The Short Version
A garage door quote is only as good as what we know about your door before we show up. Over the phone or through the contact form, tell us the door's size (single or double), whether it's steel, wood, or aluminum, and what it's doing wrong - won't open, stuck halfway, making a bang, off track, opener grinding but door not moving. That gets us a ballpark.
What we can't price sight unseen: anything involving a broken torsion spring on a door we haven't measured, because spring size and cycle rating vary by door weight and age. We also can't quote a track replacement or full panel swap without seeing how bent the track is or whether the panel is a stock size or something custom from an older build. If your house falls in the 1938 to 1994 range that covers most of this area, with a lot of homes landing around 1967, there's a decent chance you've got an original door or an older-style opener that needs a part nobody keeps on a shelf anymore. That changes the number.
Call (708) 251-9727 or stop by 4211 N Harlem Ave, Norridge, IL 60706. A quote based on a real look at the door is the only one worth trusting.
Where We Travel
We quote and work jobs centered on Norridge and out through the surrounding towns. Close in, that's Harwood Heights about a mile away, Schiller Park at 2 miles, and O'Hare itself just a mile to the northwest. Norwood Park sits 2 miles to the north-northeast, Dunning 2 miles south-southeast, and Portage Park 3 miles east-southeast.
Going further out, we cover River Grove and Rosemont at 3 miles, River Forest, Stone Park, and Northlake at 5 miles, then Golf, Berkeley, Broadview, Hillside, North Riverside, and Wood Dale around 7 to 8 miles. Past that we still take calls from Riverside, La Grange Park, Northfield, Itasca, Kenilworth, Stickney, and Lyons at 9 to 10 miles, and out to Oakbrook Terrace, Winnetka, Oak Brook, Forest View, and La Grange at 10 to 11 miles.
At the far edge of our range - 12 miles - we still quote jobs in McCook, Western Springs, Summit, Glencoe, and Hinsdale, but travel time gets worked into scheduling rather than same-day dispatch. If you're outside this radius, call anyway; we'll tell you straight whether it makes sense for us to come out.
Work We Turn Down
We work on garage doors and the openers, springs, tracks, and cables that make them run - residential doors mostly, across a service area with 154,526 households and 82,048 owner-occupied houses, so we see a wide range of ages and setups. We don't do general handyman work, and we're not going to quote fence gates, commercial roll-up doors on a different scale than what we stock parts for, or structural framing repairs around a door opening - that's carpentry, not garage door work.
We'll also tell you when replacement beats repair instead of running up a repair bill on a door that's done. A door from the older end of our area's 1938 to 1994 build range, with a worn-out opener and a track that's been bent and re-straightened more than once, is usually cheaper to replace than to keep patching.
Median household income across our service area runs around $108,833, and we price jobs the same regardless of neighborhood - we ask for your address to know distance and sometimes weather exposure given our cold-moderate climate, not to size up what you can afford. If a job is outside what we do, we'll say so on the call instead of showing up and telling you then.
Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can give you a range if you describe the door and the problem clearly - size, material, and symptom. A firm number usually needs a look at the door, especially for spring replacement or anything involving a bent track, since those parts vary by door weight and age.
Do you charge for coming out to quote?
That depends on the job and distance, which is why we ask for your address up front. Ask when you call (708) 251-9727 and we'll tell you straight before anyone drives out.
What areas do you actually cover?
We run from Norridge out through Harwood Heights, Schiller Park, River Grove, Rosemont, and O'Hare nearby, out to places like Hinsdale and Glencoe around 12 miles. See the Where We Travel section above for the full list and distances.
My house is older - does that change the quote?
It can. A lot of homes in this area were built between 1938 and 1994, with many around 1967, and some still have original hardware or older opener models. Parts for those sometimes cost more or take longer to source, and we'll tell you that before we quote the job.
