The Short Version

Call (708) 251-9727. If it's during the day, someone picks up and asks what the door is doing - won't open, won't close, makes a bang, opener runs but nothing moves. That tells us whether it's a spring, a cable, a track out of alignment, or the opener itself, and whether we can get to it same day or need to schedule around parts.

Our shop is at 4211 N Harlem Ave, Norridge, IL 60706. You're welcome to come by, but most jobs start with a phone call so we know what to load on the truck before we leave - torsion springs, extension springs, and rollers aren't interchangeable, and showing up with the wrong one wastes your afternoon and ours.

We don't do emergency dispatch around the clock. If you call outside business hours, leave a message and we'll call back when we're open. A door stuck shut overnight is annoying but rarely dangerous; a door that's come off its track with a car underneath is a different matter, and we'll say so if that's what you describe.

Where We Travel

We're based in Norridge and work the near-west Cook County towns around us: Harwood Heights a mile off, Schiller Park at two, River Grove and Rosemont at three. We also get calls from River Forest, Stone Park, and Northlake, each about five miles out, and from Berkeley and Broadview a bit further. On the Chicago side, we cover Dunning, Norwood Park, and Portage Park, all within a few miles of our Harlem Ave location.

Farther out - La Grange Park, Itasca, Hinsdale, and the other towns toward the ten-to-twelve-mile mark - we'll still take the call, but travel time factors into scheduling, especially for jobs that need a return trip for parts. If you're close to O'Hare or along the Rosemont corridor, we're used to working around the traffic patterns near the airport.

If your address isn't on this list, call anyway. Service area edges shift based on the day and what's already on the schedule, and we'd rather tell you no on the phone than have you wait for a truck that isn't coming.

Work We Turn Down

A lot of what we see on service calls traces back to housing built between 1938 and 1994, with most of it going up in the 1960s and '70s across the towns we cover. That means original hardware that's past its service life - torsion springs rated for a certain number of cycles that have simply run out, and tracks bent from decades of winter use in a cold climate where steel contracts and doors bind in January.

We don't try to repair a door with a cracked or badly rusted panel just to save you money up front; patching a panel on an old steel door usually fails again within a season, and we'll tell you to replace the section instead. We also won't rewire an opener's electrical circuit - that's an electrician's job, not ours, and we'll point you to one rather than guess at it.

If a spring has failed on a door old enough that the opener, track, and hardware are all original, sometimes the honest answer is a full replacement instead of a repair that just moves the next failure down the road. We'll say that out loud instead of billing you for a patch job.
